For example, what is the difference between outcomes, standards and competencies? Is there a reference I can cite that is considered authoritative on this point? For that matter, what is the role of a "subject" or "discipline" in American education? What is the relationship between ELA/Literacy in the Common Core and that definition? Can I cite a widely recognized authority in answering that?

Here's another example. I would argue that several of the Common Core reading standards are more properly writing standards, and vice versa. I do not consider that a small or theoretical issue in actually implementing standards-based assessment. Is there anything I can cite to prove my point, or that someone else can cite to disprove it?Tom Hoffmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08577165613934129833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7719550.post-75177748546216084262016-03-24T15:27:15.084-04:002016-03-24T15:27:15.084-04:00Uh, you said there isn't anything about standa...Uh, you said there isn't anything about standards in K12. I think you're mistaken Here's just one example that links to a lot of others.http://eric.ed.gov/?id=ED486687

Tell me more about the things you teach that can't be reported and aren't correlated to a set of standards someplace.Dan McGuirehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17165245665212961209noreply@blogger.com
