The PARCC proposal says, “The inclusion of performance tasks will ensure that the assessments measure skills that are difficult to measure in on‐demand assessments, and they will help model effective classroom instruction.” I’m looking forward to seeing how the assessments will “model” anything other than, say, the assessments themselves. I’ve never heard anyone claim that an assessment can “model effective classroom instruction”. I guess for $170 million they will be able to do that too.
