I was trying to think of what this inBloom rollout reminded me of and finally realized that its most evocative of monopoly-era post-XP, pre-Vista Microsoft. It is getting difficult to remember that time oh so long ago, and to be honest I can't even remember any specific examples off hand, but it seemed like every couple months Microsoft would come out with some kind of announcement about The Way Things Will Be, particularly in the next version of Windows, causing a huge uproar, and backpedaling by Microsoft.
Each time, observers scratched their heads and wondered if Microsoft had thought to bounce the idea of anyone -- anyone at all -- out of their immediate influence or control before the initial announcement.
That's pretty much where inBloom is. Too far inBubble to realize how absurd and just creepy their plan is.
